When you want to add usable, outdoor living space beneath your deck on rainy days, and give it a clean, finished look that hides the ugly below-deck joists, UpSide Deck Ceiling is the perfect choice.
Able to be installed to the substructure beneath your upper-level deck, the UpSide Deck Ceiling system matches many architectural styles and is adaptable to most deck shapes and configurations.
Of course, there are a few things you need to consider before you start planning your UpSide Deck Ceiling project.
What color do you want?
UpSide is available in two colors, White and Tan. We offer the full line of channels and trim products in these colors.
First, let’s talk a little about color. Ever notice how most ceilings are painted white or a similar light color? There’s a reason for that. White is better at reflecting light, which brightens up the area, and a white ceiling gives the illusion of depth.
Tan is a popular exterior trim color for those who go beyond the standard white.
For people who like to maximize their time outside, including on dark days or starry nights, our UpSide colors will brighten up your deck spaces – even in low-light situations.
How’s the existing construction?
The beauty of UpSide (compared to some of our competition) is that it can be installed on a deck that is being constructed or one that has been in place for several years.
Proper flashing needs to be installed on either new construction or retrofit to channel water away from the house and into the system.
Even if the joists are bowed or out-of-square on a retrofit deck, our Quick Install Tracks and Starter Strips, allow the system to be installed with the proper pitch to drain water away from the house and into the gutter system of your choice.
Do your joists run perpendicular to the house or parallel? Parallel joists are often a “no go” for many of our competitors, but the UpSide System is easily adapted to work in this situation.
Does your deck have cut-outs or angles? Again, our competition often struggles to adapt to these types of deck designs, but UpSide can be installed on almost any deck configuration.
Will you be adding lights or ceiling fans? If proper installation instructions are followed, these accessories can be added without compromising the UpSide system.
Plus, we offer a complete system that includes the hanging mechanisms, hardware, channels and trim pieces. You or your contractor only need to add flashing, a gutter system and water-proof sealant to most applications.
How Big of an Area would you like to “Dry-In”?
UpSide Channels are available in 10’, 12’ and 16’ channels. Our online configurator allows you to efficiently source the needed materials, even if you have multiple areas or zones beneath your deck.
We can even provide suggestions for decks that span more than 16 feet from the house (again, going beyond the reach of our competition). On these decks, you can contact us and provide a detailed drawing that includes measurements, joist directions and include any beams or other details.
Of course, we are always here to answer any of your questions. For more information about the UpSide Deck Ceiling visit upsidebycolorguard.com or for other Color Guard products visit colorguardrailing.com or call us at 866-577-9295.
