It was a big year for our parent company, Poly Vinyl Co., because it hit a major milestone – celebrating its 60th anniversary.

“This is an amazing, amazing day for us,” said Gary Lacy, Outgoing National Sales Manager of Color Guard Railing at an event in October. “We are celebrating Poly Vinyl Company’s 60 years of business. And considering the really ugly two and a half years we just went through, it’s a true testament to a family company that can survive through all of this.”

Founded in 1962 in an old 5 & 10 cent store in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, by Robert Schnettler and Richard Reichert, Poly Vinyl Co. specialized in the manufacture of custom extruded plastic shapes. As the company grew, it expanded its line of products – eventually adding the Color Guard line of maintenance-free porch and deck railing systems.

With a dedication to continuous improvement, ISO 9000 certification, streamlining processes and integration of new technologies, Poly Vinyl experienced steady growth. But, ultimately, that wasn’t what made the company successful.

“Without people, nothing works,” said Mark Schnettler, President at Poly Vinyl Co. “We put our employees first. And that’s probably the number one reason why we keep growing.”
